Worry

Not all worry is bad. For example, worrying over an upcoming test can motivate us to study more to get a better grade. Or we might worry about losing something, so we put it in a special place. Worry can be a positive thing when we have control over the way things turn out.

But for the things that are out of our control, God wants us to give our worries over to Him and trust Him with them. In the Bible, Psalm 55:22 says, “Give your worries to the Lord. He will take care of you. He will never let good people down.” This doesn’t mean that our problems will instantly disappear, but it does mean God wants to be our source of strength and hope. Things might not turn out how we wished, but we believe in God’s promises that He works all things together for good.

Jesus asked His followers if worrying could add one more hour to their lives and then reminded them how valuable we are to God. In Matthew 6:26, it says, “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Of course, you are more valuable than the birds.  You’re God’s beloved child so He will take care of you. He has great plans for your life!

God is always there, ready to listen and help you. So, the next time worry feels overwhelming, take a deep breath and remind yourself of God’s promises. He is with you, He loves you, and He is watching over you.

I’ve selected more verses to help lift your worries and encourage you. Pick out one or two (or more) that feel right to you and meditate on them; think about them over and over, and God’s love will find you and give you peace and encouragement.

Always remember, God loves you and I do too!
